ADAS Cameras: What is it and how does it affect me?

ADAS Cameras: What is it and how does it affect me?

For starters, ADAS stands for advanced driver assistance systems. ADAS cameras are sensors that allow greater awareness of the driver’s surrounding environment. These systems no longer leave you relying on the driver 100 percent of the time. ADAS cameras allow the vehicle to respond in situations that may be unsafe for the driver. These responses may include braking, blind-spot alerts, lane departure warnings, speed indicators, pedestrian detection and even driver rest suggestions.

Unfortunately, ADAS cameras cannot yet prevent your windshield from chipped or cracked. When your windshield gets replaced, the camera may move slightly which can throw off angles and perceptions. Therefore, when your windshield gets replaced, the ADAS camera needs to be calibrated.

It is extremely important to get a calibration after a replacement. In fact, vehicle manufacturers strongly recommend it. During ADAS camera calibration, a trained technician will realign the sensors and cameras to get them back to prime condition. Our technicians will work to calibrate your ADAS camera to the manufacturers’ required, safe standard to get you back on the road as quickly as possible. Just think: an ADAS camera calibration could be the difference between avoiding a car accident or not.

Most auto glass repair centers do not have the technology to both replace your windshield and calibrate the ADAS camera. Our one-stop-shop gives you a quicker safe drive-away time and allows you to get on with your day without having to visit another establishment to get your camera calibrated.
