Windshield Replacement
When a crack has run too long, reaches the edge of the glass, or sits right in your line of sight, the windshield has to come out. Suncoast Auto Glass replaces it where your car already is, at home, at work or on a job site, across Tampa Bay and Central Florida. We install OEM glass only, get the forward camera recalibrated when your vehicle has one, and bill your insurance company directly. If your Florida policy carries comprehensive coverage, state law waives the deductible on the windshield.
For a free quote, call 813-355-3465 or request one online. If the damage is small enough to fix without new glass, see our windshield repair service.

Repair or replace: how we make the call
We’d rather repair a windshield than replace it when the glass allows, because a repair keeps the factory seal intact. Small chips and short cracks away from the edges usually fill well. Replacement is the right call when a crack has run long, when the damage reaches the edge where the glass bonds to the frame, or when the break sits in the driver’s direct line of sight, where even a good repair leaves a visible mark. Not sure which you need? Send a photo when you request a quote and we’ll tell you. Our guide on whether a cracked windshield can be repaired covers the limits in more detail, and windshield repair has its own page.
What’s included when we replace your windshield
- Original-equipment glass. Every windshield we install is OEM glass, the same part your vehicle left the factory with. Our OEM vs. aftermarket windshield comparison explains why that matters on newer cars.
- A technician who comes to you. We work out of Zephyrhills on State Road 54 and drive to your driveway, office lot or job site. There’s no shop visit and nothing to drop off.
- Fresh urethane and moldings. The old adhesive is cut back, the pinch weld is cleaned and primed, and the new glass is set in fresh urethane, with new moldings or clips where your vehicle calls for them.
- Camera recalibration. If a lane-keeping or automatic-braking camera is mounted to the glass, it gets recalibrated as part of the job. More on that below.
- Insurance billed direct. We bill any insurer directly, so you don’t pay up front and wait for a reimbursement check.
- Lifetime workmanship warranty. The full terms are on our warranty page.
How a mobile windshield replacement works
- Quote and coverage check. Call 813-355-3465 or request a quote online with your year, make, model and insurance details. We confirm coverage with your insurer before we order the glass.
- Scheduling. We book a time at your home, office or job site. Hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM.
- The install. Hands-on work takes about 30 to 60 minutes for most cars. The technician needs room to open both front doors and reach all four sides of the vehicle. If it’s raining, we’ll move under a carport or into a garage, or pick another time, because urethane needs a dry surface to bond.
- Cure time. The adhesive has to cure before the glass can do its job in a crash, so budget one to two hours for the whole appointment. Your technician tells you when it’s safe to drive, and how long to wait before driving after a windshield replacement covers what to avoid the first day.
- Calibration. Cars with a windshield-mounted camera need it recalibrated after the new glass goes in, so plan on extra time for this step.
What windshield replacement costs in Florida
With comprehensive coverage, you pay no windshield deductible. Florida Statute 627.7288 says the deductible on a policy with comprehensive coverage doesn’t apply to windshield damage. Two details catch people out. The waiver covers the windshield only, so side windows and rear glass still fall under your normal comprehensive deductible. And you need comprehensive on the policy; the state-minimum PIP and property damage liability alone won’t pay for glass.
Without comprehensive coverage, the price depends on the vehicle, whether the glass carries a camera bracket, rain sensor or heated wiper area, and whether calibration is needed. We quote it before any work starts. These guides go further:

Camera recalibration after a new windshield
Many newer vehicles have a camera at the top of the windshield that runs lane departure warning, lane keeping and automatic emergency braking. During a replacement the camera is unclipped from the old glass and mounted to the bracket on the new one, and a fraction of a degree of difference changes where it thinks the lane lines are. Recalibration resets it to the manufacturer’s specification so those systems react when they should. See our ADAS recalibration service or the breakdown of ADAS calibration cost in Florida.

Windshield replacement questions we hear most
Does a windshield replacement count as a claim in Florida?
Yes. It’s filed against the comprehensive part of your auto policy, and Florida law removes the deductible on the windshield. Whether a glass claim affects your premium depends on your insurer; windshield claims and your rates breaks that down.
How long does a windshield replacement take?
About 30 to 60 minutes of hands-on work, then the cure time before you drive. Budget one to two hours, and more if the camera needs calibrating.
Can you replace my windshield at work?
Yes. Most of our jobs happen in driveways and office parking lots. The technician just needs space to open both front doors and work around the car.
Do you use OEM glass?
Yes. Every windshield we install is OEM glass.
Does the deductible waiver cover side or rear glass?
Not under the windshield law. It applies to the windshield only, so side and rear glass fall under your regular comprehensive deductible. See back and side glass replacement.
What should I do until the new windshield is in?
Park out of the afternoon sun when you can and don’t aim the defroster or AC straight at the glass, since fast temperature swings make cracks run. The guide to stopping a windshield crack from spreading has the full list.
